eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for NEET (UG) 2026.

1. Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: Candidates must be at least 17 years old as on December 31, 2026.
  • Upper Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET (UG), as per the latest guidelines.

2. Educational Qualification

  • Qualifying Exam: Must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination.
  • Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English must be core subjects.
  • Minimum Marks in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology):
    • General (UR) Category: 50% aggregate marks.
    • OBC/SC/ST Category: 40% aggregate marks.
    • PwD (Persons with Disability) Category: 45% aggregate marks (General PwD), 40% (Reserved PwD).

3. Nationality and Attempts

  • Nationality: Indian Citizens, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Foreign Nationals are eligible.
  • Number of Attempts: There is no limit on the number of attempts.

2. Syllabus

1. Courses Offered through NEET (UG)

NEET (UG) is the gateway for admissions to:

  • Medical: MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)
  • Dental: BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
  • AYUSH: BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BSMS (Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Siddha)

  • State Quota: Conducted by respective State Counselling Authorities for 85% of state government seats and 100% of private college seats within that state.

3. B.Sc. Nursing Details

  • Admission: Admission to B.Sc. Nursing in many top colleges (including all Central Institutions and many state-level institutions) is now done exclusively through NEET-UG scores.
  • Duration: 4 Years.
  • Eligibility: Generally, 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.
  • Fees: Fees vary widely. Government colleges are generally low (₹10,000 - ₹50,000 P.A.), while private college fees can range from ₹1 Lakh to ₹3 Lakh+ P.A.
